Happy World Laughter Day!

Did you know that today is World Laughter Day?

World Laughter Day is celebrated on the first Sunday of May every year.  Today over 6,000 Laughter Yoga clubs and over 10,000 people from over 70 countries will come together and laugh to promote peace and harmony in the midst of natural disasters, global unrest, violence, depression, and terrorism.

Who else is spreading laughter today?  Or aspiring to spread laughter?  The Dancing Curtain, LLC 

The Dancing Curtain, a comedy business based in Ridgefield, Connecticut, has applied for a Pepsi Refresh grant for $25,000 in the category of Arts & Music.  The Dancing Curtain's idea to refresh the community is to provide a month of free comedic entertainment (comedic plays) to the people of the San Francisco Bay area.  

California has the highest unemployment rate in the U.S., the highest homeless population in the U.S. which is constantly rising, and is near bankruptcy.  This idea would spread laughter to 2,000 to 4,000 people, giving them the opportunity to see a free comedic play in a beautiful 200 seat theater in San Francisco. 

Voting began today around noon Eastern time.  Quickly, The Dancing Curtain rose from 69th place to 46th place to 25th place to 19th place within 2 hours.  Currently The Dancing Curtain is in 17th place listed as one of the current leaders.  A dream come true!  It shows how much people value laughter and creativity.

Voting continues every day this month through May 31.  Everyone is permitted to vote once daily on Pepsi's Web site or via text message.
